* The Antorchism has sent at least 80 tons of supplies for the more affected communities
* Without food nor clothes, 302 thousand victims are forgotten by federal and state authorities
Mexico City.- The organization Movimiento Antorchista Nacional started a national campaign to collect supplies to help Tabascans that remain flooded since October. In a video, the leader of this popular organization in Tabasco, Pedro Ramos Mondragón, affirmed that they’d installed gathering centers in the main cities and state capitals where people can donate water, clothes, shoes, blankets, medicines and diverse supplies for personal hygiene and survival.
"It has been 60 days since people started eating whatever they could, wandering and begging for help, but they’ve been abandoned by federal and state authorities. Houses were lost under water, there are thousand of families homeless and many flooded areas, mainly in municipalities such as Centla, Balancán, Tacotalpa, Nacajuca, Jonuta, Centro and in the capital city of Villahermosa&rdquo, said the leader.
In Tabasco, the hostel "Carlos Pellicer Cámara&rdquo, located in Fraccionamiento Lagunas de Villahermosa, has been conditioned by Antorcha as a temporal refuge for victims from the capital. Right there, the organization also set up a gathering center to help the affected that can’t leave their houses due to fear of theft.
Due to the lack of sensitivity from President Andrés Manuel López Obrador and governor Adán Augusto López Hernández to support and help the victims, the organization initiated this national campaign, which has already gathered the first 80 tons, most of which has been already distribuited to the affected people.
"Instead of helping, the government has sent riot police to hit those who have complained for the lack of official help&rdquo, Ramos Mondragón denounced. He also criticized the Morena governement of Tabasco for its insensitivity to the tragedy that Tabascans are going through.
"The Government is only giving us only alms, when it has the possibility of attending population in an adequated and immediate way: that’s what has failed. On the contrary, there’s people in jail as a threathening lesson for those who dare to complain. There were beatings and clashes because authorities didn’t come to help victims, but to repress them&rdquo, the social leader denounced.
In the first flooding, that happened by the end of octuber, the Civil Protection Institute of Tabasco said that it had registered 623 thousand victims in 17 municipalities of the state; only in Villahermosa, the most affected area, there were 486 thousand victims in 148 neighborhoods. After those statistics were made public, President López Obrador and Governor Augusto López, on November 14th, «corrected» the data and said that the total victims were only 302 thousand, less than half the number the Institute had registered.
Pedro Ramos asked the government to attend the problem of Tabascans, whatever the ammount it could cost, either one thousand or one million. "A Govermet that said to be for the poor, must guarantee their lives first, as well as save the little patrimony families have built throughout their lives of work and sacrifice. I’m calling all Tabascans to unite in a broad fight with a common flag: no more floodings in Tabasco!”.
Finnaly, Ramos required the Federal Government to do all investments needed, in any size needed, to build projects that secure the State from flooding and invited Mexicans to support the victims in the face of authorities’s omission.
